Klimt 20MM & 10MM Bead Necklace

Klimt Style, Murano Glass, Venetian Bead necklace, handmade Italian 20mm squares and 10mm rounds, gold filled clasp & gold filled link chain.

The Klimt 20mm beads have a base of black Murano glass; then 24 karat gold foil and white gold foil, and covered with multicolored "frit" of Murano glass, Millefiori.

The 10mm Klimt beads also have a base color of black Murano glass; then 24 karat gold foil "cracked gold"; with small pieces of assorted multicolored, Murano glass canes, Millefiori.

Length of necklace is 19 inches, adjustable to 21 inches, with gold filled lobster style spring clasp, and gold filled link chain; necklace is also accented with black, twisted, bugle beads, gold metallic small seed beads, and bead caps.

I designed this necklace using beads I have, that were handmade, lamp worked beads, made in Venice, Italy.  The 20mm large squares, and the 10mm round Klimt style beads, were made in honor of the famous artist, Gustav Klimt, information about Klimt below.

Gustav Klimt: July 14, 1862 to February 6, 1918.

He was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. His major works include paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects.

Klimt's 'Golden Phase' was marked by positive critical reaction and success. Many of his paintings from this period used gold leaf. One of the works most popularly associated with this period is the "The Kiss" (1907 to 1908). Klimt travelled little, but trips to Venice and Ravenna, both famous for their beautiful mosaics, most likely inspired his gold technique and his Byzantine imagery.

These handmade, Venetian Glass beads are made in honor of and paying homage to the Austrian artist, Gustav Klimt; remembering his art work, "The Kiss".
